Well I tried to draw this girl drowning and puking blood underwater. Got the idea from a scene in the movie "House on a Haunted Hill" or whatever it was called. (btw the end big bad boss evil is such an anticlimax that i almost felt like crying) Buuut it didn't work out very well. Guess I lost my touch for a while on that one. Oh well. Here it is anyways. I'll try and start that comic at some point. I will! REALLY WILL!!

All Grown Up

Last weekend was Juhannus a scandinavian midsummer's festival. This year I decided to go there to spend time with my childhood friends. It's weird how time passes by. It feels like yesterday I was playing with them outside with toy guns and whatnot and now we're strangers. I thought I'd feel right at home there but I didn't. Sometimes it's very hard to accept the fact that people change and grow apart.
The people that was there were strangers and cold. They had new friends now and yet again they had still stayed friend with each other minus one friend. But being there, watching them together i did realize that it's my time to close the door to that and carry on with my life and to surround myself with new friends, a new life.
It's true that we can never start from a clean slate. The stuff we've experienced through out our lives are with us 'till the end. Those are the things that have molded us to what we are today. But it is very hard to realized that you've grown up to be the outsider watching in to the party and that made me think....Was I ever inside or was I just dreaming?
On the second day of the party when I left I knew I left them for the last time. I will never hang out with those guys again since as sad as it is to admit, they are only strangers to me. I don't belong to their world anymore and nor do they belong to mine. Like they say: "C'est La Vie!"

Time to build new memories with people who i will grow attached to. It'll be a good summer I think...With new friends and memories. :)

Ooh so i bumped into this art gallery in sl, there were artworks by Jen Villota. I absolutely fell in love with her works!! The exhibition is called Misohorny and oh my oh my it's amazing. The works are grotesque but the same time very beautiful. I love the color schemes in it and the general atmosphere! The general theme is moded pics from SL she has taken herself. Very good work! Brilliant, daring and in a twisted way very beautiful! Here's a pic I took from her exhibition! The girl on the right is my avatar...Mmmmm...I love her! You can see her work at her blog.

I finally got my yet another new set of dreads on and glasses. And I even look smart with glasses. Imagine that! I just need to learn to keep my mouth shut and I'll be a good smarty pants all the way.

I bought four amazing books: Drawing & Painting the Undead by Keith Thompson, Mechanika: Creating the art of science fiction with Doug Chiang, Bold Visions: The digital painting bible by Gary Tonge and Hell Beasts; How to draw grotesque fantasy creatures by Jim Pavelec.
I've started to try and develop some sort of story behind my drawings. Keeps me more interested on doing them and maybe gives the drawings more life and stuff.. So:

This is Etherna. She is a fallen angel who is now an oracle in the underworld. Many are scared of her since she shows the most disturbing parts of life and death. Many who think they're powerful enough to conjure her end up going insane. None survives the sights she has to show.

I love her already. :P

And then there's that sad mermaid which I made according to this weird ass dream I had where I turned into a mermaid but for some reason I didn't get too excited about it so it's kinda sloppy..

Well I was supposed to do a girl there ready to fight the dragon but I ended up not adding anything cos the dragon in it's self is so nice. I'm sorta proud of this pic. I wanna make more and more dragons and I wanna buy some dragon books.. :P Maybe at some point I'll ad the chick there but for now it just didn't look good no matter what way i put it there. I think there could be a lot of detailing to do and I prolly will ad some detail at some point. :) Just don't wanna stress about it. I'll continue if I feel like it. Yup. Ended up making this sorta weird pic. I even made a story behind her. She is the Queen of the Thieves. Very beautiful, very deadly. ;) No one know her real name. She's called The Dragon. I'm pretty proud of how this turned out. Made a lot of chicks on the pic but they always ended up looking like they were just cut off of some other pic. I finally got to do it right after I decided to sleep over it. Sometimes it's a really good idea just to let an idea marinate so to speak if you dunno what to do. I usually give up but after all the tutorials and articles I've read I've really learned that you don't have to get it right immediately. I usually am a really impatient person and I wanna get it right the first time and immediately and if it doesn't I just abandon the job. This time I decided to give it another try today and it was so worth it! Just don't give up! Try again later if it doesn't work out the first time. Give it time. Do something else as you let that marinate and look pictures from other artists to inspire you with ideas. Oh and she has guns in her hands. My boyfriend didn't realize it so I tried to work on them some more. Dunno if they look like guns now but maybe later I'll do some study on guns and continue this pic then.

I had a lot of trouble on thinking where to put the dragon tattoo I made. It prolly should be in the back but then it wouldn't show. :P Maybe I'll do another pic of her where the tattoo is on her back and the pic will be from behind. I'm already having an image in my head what the pic would be like. We'll see if I'll do it today or tomorrow. I have a lot of dishes to wash T_T

Fuck yeah! Found a simple but really really really helpful tutorial. You can see it here. Finally found a brush I just loooove. And 90% of the time i can paint with the opacity and flow set on 100%. Now this is what i've been looking for. All those tutorials and whatnot and I always wondered the fact that they use steady 100% all the way and I never got that done. Now that I've looked more into the brush settings and all the stuff you can actually do through there I have to say..For the love of all that is unholy and holy look into the brush settings. You'll learn a lot of useful stuff! Sniff. I want that sorta hair for myself T_T!!

YI made this speedpainting off of this tutorial vid. Yes yes it's an exact copy but I just wanted to learn the techniques. Made some new building brushes myself. Later on I can apply these techniques on some perhaps more original work. Added some texture on top of it to give it some more feeling or something.. :D

I've been really trying my hardest to look the internet of speedpaintings and tutorials on how to do some. I really wanna learn to make good and fast pics out of my own head. for now it hasn't worked out too great so I decided to developing my skills more by starting to just do speedpaintings of pictures I find in the internet. I love scene hair and would really love to get some extensions on my hair but it costs a lot of money so can't really afford it :S..But if I get a painting sold any time soon I'm gonna get me some ;) Anyways so I found this lovely pic of a very cute girl with scene hair and decided to do a speedpainting of her. :)Here is the original pic.

Looked at this study and fell in love with the old renaissance style glazing that was used in the cg face study. I tried it on my face study which got alot of influence of that awesome face study i found. I'm gonna try and use the technique in my paintings and see how it'll turn out. Drawn so much that my hand hurts T_T . I also put a nice grunge texture on top of the pic I made which I got from here. I am determined to get better at speedpainting. Used photoshop cs2 and corel painter. I'm really just learning to use corel painter. For now at least i'm still pretty noobish on it. Using it is way harder than it looks. I wish I could get some Corel painter tutorial book or something. Gonna have to scroll through bookstores and see if I can find one.

Ooh. Finally get to do with my sweet old acrylics again. I just love painting with them and the style is way more expressive and I feel like I can go with the flow, so to speak.. ;P Anyways. Here's a painting I'm working on now with the acrylics. I think I'll call it rage all tho as weird as it sounds I am very calm and almost in a meditative state when I paint. I feel sertain serenity doing it. Maybe because I'm transferring my feelings on the wood. Who knows :P

I wanted to put my dreads back on since I'm too lazy to color them cos I don't know what color I want :D This time they look much more full! Dunno why. See for yourself. The pic ain't too shabby but oh well.

I've also been thinking on coloring my hair almost white but since i have black color on base it might be a tad too harsh for my head.. :/ I just got all the damaged hair cut off so it would kinda make it pointless since it'd destroy my hair complitely again…

Gah! I'm gonna try to make some manga with my Manga Studio at some point but now I've been neck deep with these two huge paintings. Here are some more pictures(yes yet again bad quality...) of how I'm progressing with my paintings. I got home from school at 10pm :S Gosh. sooooo tired. I wish I had the energy to think my manga. The size of the paintings are 125 x 100 cm so you can imagine the work load I managed to arrange for myself. I could've made smaller ones but oh nooooo..I just HAD to make these epic size paintings. Bad me! Bad girl!! *slap* Ouch.. :( Someone comfort me T_T...

It's kinda fun but Sometimes it feels like a struggle since I'm never happy with the end result... :/ Hopefully I get that Manga Studio soon so I can work on it the page. Maybe then it'll look better. No texts yet tho..

So I made another speedpainting video and here's the final result. Ain't much but oh well. And my sweet sweet books came. Kalevala and the two book set by Konstantinos "Nocturnal witchcraft" and "Gothic grimore" yammy... So far so good all tho the part about the mind reading was kinda bull in my opinion. I mean it's just a trick more than any magic. But you'll have to read it to know what I mean..

Aaaanyways. I'm not in a really big mood to talk on and on (maybe later) but I will give you more indepth review of the books once I've read them. Until then you'll just have to watch my weird ass pictures and speedpainting vids. :O

Well I took the straight fibers off since they were getting hopelessly tangled but I made new synthetic dreads couple of weeks back and I put them back on. All tho these weight a lot, they are however pwetty. meow!

Oh and I do do do want Manga Studio!! And it works on macs too ^^
